A slagging gasifier has a hearth comprising an annular solid cast structure formed from a high thermal conductivity metal such as copper and shaped to fit above a slag tap of the gasifier. The hearth is provided with one or more integrally formed passageways for circulating a coolant liquid therethrough and has an upper tundish surface with a slope of at least 10° to the horizontal (preferably between 25° and 45°), across which tundish surface the molten slag flows downwardly and inwardly towards the slag tap. The annular structure may be formed from at least three sector-shaped cast parts secured together in situ in the gasifier.

This invention relates to chambers for the gasification of coal from a lump in the molten state.
The aim of the invention is to increase the service life of the gasifier by reducing the wear of the hearth.

The gasifier contains a gasification chamber 1, a hopper 2 with a shutter, a rotating distributor 3. In the lower part of the chamber 1 are tuyeres 4 for introducing oxygen and steam. Chamber 1 is provided with a layer 5 of refractory material. Under the chamber 1, a quench chamber 6 (tank) is installed in which the annular collector 7 is installed, to which an inlet 8 is connected to supply water. To the “lower part of the chamber 6, the hopper 9 is connected with the shutter 10 and the valve 11.
Two conveyors 12 are located under the bunker 9. Outlet pipes 13 and 14 are connected to the quench chamber 6 and the bunker 9 for draining water. The blanking chamber 6 is hermetically connected to the bottom of the gasification chamber 1 by means of a removable flange assembly 15, which consists of a cylindrical steel sleeve 16 having an annular unit 17 welded to its upper end. Element 18 for discharging slag is provided with a unit 19 for additional cooling. Above the slag discharge element 18 is an annular hearth element 20. The channels 24 formed in the screen 22 are U-shaped and are connected in series by means of supply pipes 27 at the outer ends of the channels 24. The pipes 28 and 29 are connected to the channels 24 for supplying and discharging coolant. Spiral coolant channels 30 are provided in the annular element 20, which is led through the inlet 3 1 and out through the outlet 32.
The angle of inclination of the upper drain surface 25 of the annular screen 22 is essentially the same as the angle of inclination of the upper drain surface 26 of the element 18 for slag discharge. The drain surface 25 of the annular screen 22 may be covered with at least one layer 33, having the shape of a sector of their refractory material, of refractory bricks, preferably of a material based on carborundum (in Fig. 2, the layer is shown in phantom lines). : Gasifier works as follows.

1. COAL GASIFICATOR according to patent No. 923373, characterized in that, in order to increase the service life by reducing the wear of the hearth, it is provided with an annular metal screen located above the annular element and made of interconnected cast metal parts with high thermal conductivity, channels are provided in the annular screen for supplying coolant and the upper surface of the screen is inclined in the direction of the annular element for draining slag at least at an angle of 10.
